With fall right around the corner, Apple Holler welcomes schools to learn about farming and the importance of local agriculture through several engaging, curriculum-based learning experiences. Groups of all ages can experience deeper learning with hands-on activities in the fresh outdoors!
The Legend of Johnny Appleseed Field Trip is one of our most popular field trip options. This fun-filled, interactive experience teaches elementary-school children all about John Chapman, a folk hero and pioneer apple farmer during the 1800s, as well as his interesting life traveling across the land to plant apple trees and befriend pioneers and animals. Laugh, dance, and sing-along with the engaging musical show while also having fun learning about the life-cycle of an apple tree, pollination, and bees! On top of this, the visit also includes the Johnny Appleseed History Walk, where students can learn about Johnny and his history of growing apples across the country.
Preschool guests will laugh and learn at our Barnyard Puppet Show featuring Bob the Rooster, and special guest, Old McDonald. Students will get to experience barnyard animals, their sounds, sign language, and audience participation.
If groups would rather focus on learning in the orchard, they can choose the Fall Fun on the Farm Adventure package, where they will get an educational tour, barnyard animals, visit the Golden Goat Bridge, and feed & learn about goats.
Whether you see the puppet show or learn about Johnny Appleseed, field trips include an orchard tour on a tractor-drawn wagon, apple picking, a freshly baked cookie, and access to the many Farm Park activities, such as visiting the farmyard animals, Kid’s Corral, Crazy Corn Maze, Cow Trivia Maze, Giant Slide, & MORE!
