Fun Fact: Most of Our Signage is Hand-Painted

Did You Know Most of the Signage at Our Farm Is Hand-Painted?

If you’ve ever wandered through Apple Holler and felt like every corner has its own personality, there’s a reason for that. During the warm summer months, our team takes full advantage of Wisconsin’s sunshine to hand-paint the majority of the signs you see across the farm. Rather than relying on mass-produced signage, we choose to create pieces that feel personal, whimsical, and full of heart, just like Apple Holler itself.

From the moment you arrive, hand-painted details guide your experience. At the end of each orchard row, you’ll find variety name signs painted with care, helping you learn exactly what you’re picking. Meanwhile, throughout the farm, colorful murals, playful cutouts, and directional signs pop up everywhere you look. Because of this, no two signs feel exactly the same, and each one adds to the charm of the farm.

Our talented painters have brought countless projects to life over the years. Some guest favorites include the “I Love You a Bushel and a Peck” mural near the orchard entrance and the giant Farm Park map that helps families plan their day. In addition, guests often stop to admire the “Welcome to the Golden Goat Bridge” sign, the hand-painted arrows that guide you through the Farm Park, and the informational boards in the orchard that explain the history, flavor profile, and best uses of each fruit variety.

Beyond that, our creativity extends to the big and small details alike. We’ve painted the large signs visible from the highway, the directional signs inside the main building, and even the clouds and slide at the Jack and the Beanstalk Giant Slide. You’ll also find hand-painted “How Tall Are You?” signs, the North Pole Postal mailbox for our Holly Jolly Jubilee, every playhouse in Tinyville, and all the characters and animals hidden throughout the Enchanted Forest.

Ultimately, these hand-painted signs do more than provide directions, they help tell our story. Because of our creative and passionate team, we can turn imagination into reality and make the farm feel magical for guests of all ages. We’re incredibly thankful for the artists behind the scenes who help bring Apple Holler to life, one brushstroke at a time!
