All About Pumpkins

Pumpkin Picking At Apple Holler

For over 30 years, Apple Holler has been a tradition for families and all those who want spend the day at the farm and not only pick their own apples, play in the farm park, slide down the giant slide, navigate the corn maze but also pick the perfect pumpkin from the great orange sea of pumpkins in our festive Scarecrow Village.

Please note that picking conditions can change day by day, and even hour to hour, depending upon Mother Nature, weather conditions and customer traffic.

The Great Pumpkin

To begin with….which is it?  FRUIT or VEGETABLE?   Because it has seeds, it is most definitely a fruit.   In fact, the average pumpkin contains about 1 cup of seeds.   The oldest evidence of pumpkin-related seeds dates back to somewhere between 7000 and 5500 BC to seeds found in Mexico.

Now Picking: Autumn Crisp, Empire, Fuji, Blondee, Snow Sweet, Gala, and McIntosh Apples
