Any way you slice it, an apple a day is definitely good for your health.  Not only are apples low in calories, and high in fiber, but scientists and nutritionists are finding more and more ways that prove once again “An Apple a Day….”

We wanted to share the top 10 health benefits of the amazing apple.

  1. Reduce cholesterol: The pectin in apples lowers LDL cholesterol. By eating only 2 apples a day, you can reduce your cholesterol level by up to 10%.
  2. Reduces risk of cancer: The flavonoids quercetin present in apple prevents oxygen molecules from damaging individual cells. This can prevent cell changes that can lead to cancer; due to the high amount of flavonoids in apples, those who eat more apples can lower their chances of lung cancer by up to 50% according to a study of 10,000 people. Research also suggests that apples can protect you against both breast and colon cancer.
  3. Reduce the risk of heart disease: The phytonutrients in apples act as antioxidants to keep our heart healthy.
  4. Diabetes Management: The pectin in apples supplies galacturonic acid to the body which lowers the body’s need for insulin and may help in the management of diabetes.
  5. Dental health: The natural acidic properties of apples help to keep the teeth clean your breath smelling better. When you eat apples, the fiber in it cleanses the teeth, while the antiviral properties of the fruit keep bacteria and virus away.

COVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS 

In order to ensure the health and safety of our guests and staff while having an enjoyable time on the farm, Apple Holler has implemented the following procedures:

  1. Face Masks Required: Face masks are required when coming indoors at Apple Holler, except when eating at your dining table. Face masks are also required outdoors at Apple Holler when social distancing is not possible.
  2. Vaccinations: Vaccinations are highly encouraged.
  3. Showing Symptoms? If you, someone in your party, or someone with whom you have recently come into contact with are showing symptoms of COVID-19, please do not visit our farm. Return home and follow the CDC guidelines.
  4. Keep Your Distance: Stay a minimum of 6 feet (preferably more) away from other visitors and staff at all times.
  5. Wash Your Hands Thoroughly When You Arrive: Please use hand sanitizer & hand washing stations (indoor & outdoor) upon arrival and often. We have dispensers placed for your convenience.
