We’ll start our day with a hot pancake breakfast at Apple Holler and be on our way to an adventurous day in Chicago. We are going to give you three choices of where you will spend your day in Chicago. You get to pick one and you will be delivered right to the property to enjoy the day exploring and eating lunch on your own. We will pick you up mid afternoon at the same spot and be home by 6pm.
1.The Chicago Field Museum gives you three ticket price ranges for you to purchase on your own that day. From Basic Admission starting at $12, or Discovery Pass $18 or All Access Admission for $24 which includes every exhibit plus special exhibits and the 3-D theatre experience. 2. The Shedd Aquarium see web site for details and pricing: http://www.sheddaquarium.org/ (General Admission: $8 Shedd Pass: $28.95 or $32.95 for Shedd Pass Plus.) Each price range gives you more added extensive areas to see and the ability to see the larger sea animals as well as Shedd’s Aquatic Show. Go on line to see what is included in each price admission.
3. Shopping on Michigan Avenue. Chicago’s Magnificent Mile is the great Chicago shopping experience with an abundance and variety of boutiques, and stores to spark every interest. All within an easy stroll. The Water Tower place is Chicago’s premier shopping destination. The eight-level atrium features Macy’s, The American Girl Place and more than 100 other amazing stores. Stop and relax for lunch at one of the delicious restaurants in the area. Check out the Hershey’s Chocolate shop near-by as well. John Hancock Observatory is right there too, if you want a view from the top of the world. The lower level of the observatory boasts the wonderful “Cheesecake Factory restaurant”.

Amish in Iowa
June 17th - June 19th
Each year for the last four years The Holler Travel Club has done an Amish Tour in different states. Each Tour has been unique and exciting because of various other areas we have incorporated into the tour. Our newest Amish Tour for 2013 is no different. We are sure you will enjoy it just as much, if not more, than any of the others.
After a delicious breakfast at Apple Holler on our first day, we will be on our way to Dubuque, Iowa. Once we arrive we will go directly to the Riverfront. We will board the Spirit of Dubuque for a two hour cruise on the Mississippi River with Lunch included. A truly great experience.
Our home for the next two nights will be at the Riverside Resort/Casino just minutes away from Kalona. You may enjoy the casino, pool, or just relax in your beautifully appointed guest room.
Our second day will be full of Amish-Mennonite adventures in the beautiful area of Kalona, Iowa. We will have a customized tour of the Kalona area and countryside.
The tour includes 4 demonstrations and a home-cooked meal served “family style”
in a Conservative-Mennonite home. A guide will meet us at the Kalona Historical Village and over coffee and doughnut holes talk about the customs and lifestyles of the various Amish and Mennonite groups in the area. We will visit the various buildings in the Village and then be off on our drive through the Amish countryside.
Our second evening will be again relaxing at our beautiful resort.
After checking out of our resort, we will be doing a driving tour of the area which make up the Colonies of Amana and then have shopping and lunch time (on own) in the Village of Amana. We will then sit back and enjoy a wonderfully scenic ride home.
