Furry Tails with a Twist

~An energetic, high-interest and interactive children’s show experience, which brings to life the creative world of story structure, writing vocabulary, and Six-Trait Writing; while also incorporating scientific exploration and concepts.~

 

January - March, 2012


Fractured Fairy Tales at their best - Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, and The Three Little Pigs become terribly entangled in this hilarious romp.  It’s up to the audience to sort things out! Filled with humor, slapstick and charm the creative story telling drives the action, and the actors and audience partner in the tales. In the end, both the actors and the audience have learned creative tale-telling through these Furry Tails...er...Fairy Tales.

For weekday field trip groups, after experiencing the hilarious, high-energy performance of Furry Tails with a Twist, enjoy freshly-made pancakes served with Three Bears’ honey or maple syrup.  Discover different types of animal tracks through discussion and a hands-on activity. Then visit real goats at the Golden Goat Bridge.  Then take a Furry Tails Train Ride into the Enchanted Forest.  This engaging and educational package brings literacy and science to life in a unique and entertaining manner that will pique the interest and enjoyment of children of all ages as well as adults.

A special Furry Tails Family Fun Package is also available on Saturdays at 10:00am, January 21 - March 17, 2012.  This package includes:  Furry Tails with a Twist show, a fun Furry Tails craft, a Furry Tales Train Ride into The Enchanted Forest, pancakes and apple cider or coffee served in the Apple Holler restaurant, a visit with real goats at the Golden Goat Bridge and memorable photo opportunities with the silly Furry Tail characters, so bring your camera!

Big Bunny Celebration!

 The Big Bunny Celebration , is making its annual appearance at the Apple Holler Family Farm Park.  Guests will begin their outing with The Country Bunny Puppet Show.  This interactive puppet show teaches the value in believing in yourself and the importance of following your dreams.  After the puppet show, get ready to experience an activity-packed adventure which includes:  a special Easter surprise for each child, homemade cookie, apple cider, a orchard tour on the Big Bunny Express kid’s train into the Enchanted Forest for an Easter Egg Hunt, a hand-led pony ride, multiple themed children’s games where every child wins, face painting and photo opportunities with the Big Bunny himself, so be sure to bring your camera!

Jack and the Beanstalk

~A new and original version of the age-old tale, that brings the story to life with exciting music,
audience participation and comedy.~


April - June 2012

Bring in the spring with a fun, experience filled field trip package that supports scientific concepts taught in the classroom, while also bringing literature to life.  Begin the adventure with an original, interactive musical production of Jack and the Beanstalk, which reminds us of the importance of dreaming and the reality of dreams coming true through dedication, courage and hard work.  Combine science with literacy as Jack's beanstalk becomes the springboard for scientific discovery.  Through a mini-lesson and outdoor displays, discover the life cycle of a plant and view the inside of a real beehive. Your dreams "take root and sprout" when you build your own "Grasshead".  Enjoy a perfect finish to the experience while taking a wagon ride through the apple orchard to see apple trees when they at the beginning stages of fruit development as they are awaking from their winter slumber, like the sleeping giants. After the guided portion of your trip, walk through "Jack and the Beanstalk Storybook Trail", and enjoy the The Gian Beanstalk Slide, Apple Holler Park attractions and greet the baby goats and spring chicks.

Gemstone Mining Experience

Take a trip back to pioneer days, with this exciting, educational and engaging experience!


April - October, 2012

Take a trip back to pioneer days, with this exciting, educational and engaging experience!  Begin your mining experience with an entertaining “melodramatic storytelling”, where Prospector Joe’s tale is intertwined with the history of Wisconsin mining.  Following the storytelling, Prospector Joe will give a brief presentation featuring Wisconsin history and geography.

To continue the learning and fun, Prospector Joe will guide guest miners through a panning experience at the Apple Holler Mining Company. Have a “rocking” good time panning and exploring through your own bag of “mining rough”.  Discover and identify genuine gemstones and minerals that can be taken home and used for further discovery or to create your own beautiful treasures or jewelry.  This unique mining experience will be a memorable learning event that will be sure to spark imaginations and the desire to learn more about mining and geology.

Exciting Foundational or Culminating Experience for Thematic Units on:
History, Rocks & Minerals, Matter and MORE!


Apple Holler Mining Experience includes:

Summer Fun on the Farm

~Great for all ages, Summer Fun on The Farm 2012, will allow you to experience all of the sights, sounds,
flavor and FUN that you will only find at Apple Holler's Family Farm!~


June - August 2011

This engaging and activity-filled experience is sure to please children of all ages, as they get away from everyday life and enjoy the sights, sounds, flavor and fun of our family farm.  Your farm host or hostess will accompany you on a tractor-drawn wagon tour through the orchard and Enchanted Forest.  Test your detective skills with the Apple Holler Wagon Ride "I Spy".  Discover nature as you visit and explore the vegetable garden and Bee Hut.  Then experience the rewards of freshly grown vegetables as you observe how fresh garden salsa is made, followed by a sample tasting of the summer treat.

The fun continues as you enjoy a ride down the Giant Beanstalk Slide.  To help fight the summer heat, you will enjoy a delicious, frozen, cider-cicle.  Continue your farm adventure on your own, as you visit the Golden Goat Bridge, run through the Crazy Corn Maze and Cool Cow Maze and play in the Kids Corral, complete with t he beautiful new Rainbow Playground System.


Summer Fun on the Farm Experience Includes:

Get ready for another fantastic fall season as we are busy gathering all of your favorite Johnny Appleseed tales and songs from over the years, for the popular The Legend of Johnny Appleseed Field Trip!

OR for our younger guests, the Johnny Appleseed Puppet Show Field Trip is returning to Apple Holler, along with Johnny, Pip and all of their friends!  Written specically for the developmental level of children in pre-school through first grade, the Johnny Appleseed Puppet Show teaches about believing in one-self and following your dreams, while also incorporating educational information on the life-cycle of a tree.


Educational & Fun-Filled Fall Field Trip includes:

Math Maze Learning Adventure

~Great NEW Field Trip Option for Students in Elementary through High School!~


September – November 2012

To start this exciting and unique fall farm experience, your students will work in teams to find their way through a 2 ½ acre maze. Answering their math or language arts questions correctly, will guide them through the maze, but if they answer incorrectly, they will hit a dead end and have to back track. Created to support State Academic Standards, you will choose for your class a language arts or a math maze challenge, ranging from 3rd – 10th grade.

Mrs. Claus and the Littlest Reindeer

~A children's holiday musical that emphasizes the value of kindness,
inner strength and the spirit of the holidays.~

 

December, 2012

The heartwarming holiday, musical show, Mrs. Claus and the Littlest Reindeer, reminds us that the quality of one's character is more important than their outward appearance.  The touching story, interactive songs and a special visit from "The Man in Red" himself, is sure to bring holiday joy to the young and young at heart.  Following the shoe, everone will enjoy a homemade holiday cookie and craft and then visit a real reindeer!   Finally, a ride on the Candy Cane Express will add the finishing touches to a unique and educational holiday experience.


 

Holiday Program Includes:

  • Holiday musical show "Mrs. Claus and the Littlest Reindeer"

Teacher's Tips

  • Watch local weather forecast to have children dress appropriately
  • Arrive 10 minutes before scheduled time
  • Guided portion od the field trip is approximatley 90 minutes.  Allow additional time for Children's play area and/or lunch.
  • The chaperones are responsible for the safety of the children.  The activities of the children must be monitored byt he chaperones while here.
